Avoid These Foods If You Have Arthritis

The link between your food and arthritis has been known for most of recorded history. Chinese medicine, Ayurveda and Hippocrates have all suggested that most ailments can be fixed by eating more healthily.

A recent article by Liz Collier Cool looks at several recent studies that confirm this link between certain foods and arthritis. There are foods that can be categorised as inflammatory which means that they trigger inflammation in our bodies. This can manifest in conditions such as a blocked nose, swollen joints, heart problems and rheumatoid arthritis.

Naturopaths have longed maintained that Rheumatoid arthritis is caused by our diets. However,  now researchers are suggesting that Osteoarthritis as at least partly being caused by persistent low level inflammation over a long period of time.

  • Processed foods
  • Chemical Additives
  • Over cooked foods
  • Sugar
  • Artificial Sweeteners – These are some of the most dangerous toxins going and they can make you fatter…..

  • Alcohol
  • Salt
  • Microwaved foods

The Key foods that can help to avoid arthritis are:

  • Oily Fish or Omega 3 Supplements
  • Shellfish
  • Tart Cherries
