New research from the Baylor Research Institute has shown that tart cherries appear to be a new pain treatment for people suffering from osteoarthritis. This form of arthritis is caused by wear and tear of your major load bearing joints. It is often found in the back, hips, hands and knees.
Over 50% of all the patients Bay’s pilot study benefited from a large reduction in their pain and joint flexibility when they ate tart cherry pills for 2 months.
This particular type of Cherry, the Montmorency, has been extensively studies and there are many reports of their effectiveness from a great number of years. This study seems to confirm these findings. There have also been reports of them being effective for other forms of arthritis as well.
